Do you think online dating in general is a bunch of nonsense like I do?

I feel that online dating is not very effective for meeting the person that you want to be with forever all of the sites even eharmony. Every time I have used these sites I send out 20 messages and lucky to hear back from maybe 1. The first thing I feel people look at is the picture im a 23 year old guy at about 230 pounds. I feel it's rediculus am i going to say in 30 years that i married her becuase she had nice abs cmon give me a break. I feel online dating leads people in the wrong direction it makes people focus on external factors instead of who the person really is. Who cares about the beauty and shape the person is in. I've met some big people that are the nicest people in the world and will do anything for you. This is my cynical take on online dating! Anyone agree?
